The ink colour used in permanent makeup are usually iron oxides, titanium dioxide, or other metal salts. The depth at which the implementing pigment is implanted in the skin varies depending on the technique used by your technician and its intended purpose.
Unlike traditional tattoos, semi-permanent makeup and cosmetic tattoos will eventually fade over time. The length of time that semi-permanent makeup lasts depends on several factors, including the type and colour of pigment used, as well as the individual’s skin type and aftercare regimen.
What are Combination Eyebrows?
Combination brows are a combination of two forms of semi-permanent techniques: microblading and powder brows (shading).
Microblading is a technique using a super-fine blade to make hair like strokes whilst depositing pigment into the skin. This is suitable for those who would like a fuller natural looking eyebrows with an enhanced shape.
Powdered brows can be done with a machine or hand tool to create an ombre look instead of individual hair strokes. Powdered brows are more for individuals with oily skin, mature skin, and for those wanting a soft makeup look. The soft makeup look means that the tails of the brows are darker and fade to a lighter at the start of the brows, giving them a subtle look.

Semi-permanent means it will fade over time, and that if you want to keep your brows looking vibrant, top up appointments will be needed to maintain this look, usually around 12 months. Semi-permanent does not mean it will 100% fade away. You may always be left with remnants of ink under your skin, even 10 years from now. Everyone's bodies will process the ink differently, as well as your lifestyle choices affecting the longevity of the tattoo.
